AI-Generated B2B Ad
A fake pharma ad created to seriously test AI-generated video in a real creative workflow.

Stress-testing ourselves, not a client brief
FunX wasn’t commissioned.
It was a spec commercial, created to test our skills, challenge our assumptions, and explore what AI video tools can realistically do right now in the hands of experienced creatives.
The idea was simple and intentionally absurd:
A parody of an American pharmaceutical commercial... but for underperforming sales professionals.
Satire first, technology second
The core goal wasn’t “let’s make an AI video.”
It was: “let’s make a funny, sharp B2B ad, and see if AI can keep up.”
The concept, story flow, and comedic rhythm were human-led. ChatGPT supported fine-tuning and punch-ups, but the narrative decisions stayed firmly with us.
Humor, pacing, and restraint still require taste, and taste isn’t automated.
The result: a spoof that feels familiar, uncomfortable, and funny for anyone who’s ever worked in sales or marketing.
Two days, one weekend, hundreds of generations
The entire project was created over two to three days, during a rare quiet weekend with no client pressure, no deadlines, and no stakes... the perfect environment to experiment and fail fast.
The pipeline
- Veo 3 + FLORA for video generation
- Mostly text-to-video
- Some image-to-video
- Hundreds of generations to find usable shots
- ElevenLabs for voice-over refinement
- Manual ADR and sound cleanup to fix artifacts, pacing, and clarity
- Licensed music to ground the spot emotionally
Total cost: ~$500 in AI credits.
Was it efficient? Not really.
Was it plug-and-play? Absolutely not.
The tools are powerful, but stubborn.
Prompting, iteration, rejection, re-generation, and editorial judgment were constant. This wasn’t automation; it was wrangling.
This project confirmed something important for us:
- AI can dramatically lower production barriers
- AI does not replace creative direction
- AI works best in the hands of specialists
- Taste, judgment, and storytelling still matter more than tools
The process is fundamentally different from traditional production — faster in some places, slower in others — but it opens creative doors that simply didn’t exist before.
Real traction from a fake product
After posting the video on Reddit, the response was immediate.
Brands reached out. Conversations started.
Several AI-focused projects were born from this experiment.
